"She may be the reason I'm alive, the why and wherefore I survive...Me, I'll take her laughter and her tears and make them all my souvenirs, for where she goes I've got to be. The meaning of my life is she." - Elvis Costello
Kali just learned how to sit herself up, and now she's learned how to pull herself up onto things. She had been trying when she crawled over to my legs, she'd attempt to pull up on my pants. But was never successful at it. But this weekend, she figured out how to pull up on the automan at Mema and Papa's house, how to pull up on the couch at our house, AND THEN:
How to pull up in her crib!! This is how I found her when she woke up from her nap Sunday morning.
It's crazy how quickly she learns things. It seems that when she puts her mind to something, she's going to accomplish it within days! Also, on Sunday I was getting ready to go and had her in my room playing. She started to crawl away, and I said "Kali, when you leave you have to say Bye-Bye". She turned and looked at me and I swear she said "By" and crawled away. It was the cutest thing, and of course I can't get her to do it on camera... She's also trying to say Junior, but it comes out "oh". But she says it only when she's looking at him. It's so cute!
She never ceases to amaze me!
For the past week or so, Kali has been noticing her closet and all the clothes in it. So periodically I'll take her over to it and she has the best expression like "For me?!?!"
Last night I decided to try to take a video of it. It's not the best quality because 1) I took it myself while holding her and 2) I took it on my phone.
But I was able to capture her expression! HAHA!!! I love this kid!
I have some random pictures that I've taken of Kali over the past few weeks. There's really no rhyme or reason for them...so I figured I'd just make a big post of them all! :)
Kali at a Birthday party we went to.
She was so interested in all the other kids. It was so cute!
Nom Nom Nom
FEETS!!
She loves her feet.
But only nekked feet!
If there are socks on there, she doesn't really mess with them.
Little Miss Thang rolled from her mat (on the left)
all the way over to the piano and then scooted onto it!
She's going to be crawling before I know it!
TJ snapped this one of Kali and me.
I was so exhausted one night that I fell asleep after giving her the bedtime bottle.
But we look pretty angelic! =)
Kali's new toy!
It spins, and rattles, and makes noise!
But she just wanted to eat it! HAHA
Figuring out that the balls spin and make noise
Chewing on her favorite teething ring (Thanks Grandma)
TJ and I were doing some yard work and she was just relaxing staring at the Magnolia Trees!
High Five Mom!!
I love this smile so much!
"What? You don't eat your feet? That makes YOU the strange one!" =)
Relaxing in mom and dad's bed this morning!
Sorry some of these pictures are blurry. They were taken on my phone! But they were too cute not to share! I love this little girl!
When I was little my dad would read me a bedtimes story every.single.night. It was my favorite part of the day! My dad is a character for sure! And in every story he read, each character would have his own voice. So it was like watching a play on pages! Can you say AWESOME?!?!?!
My sister bought Kali a bunch of books for Christmas and just cause she loves her (I mean who wouldn't?). And one was "The Monster at the End of the Book"
It stars Grover from Sesame Street (again...AWESOME). My dad does the BEST Grover voice! Right next to the guy that ACTUALLY does Grover's voice. :)
Yesterday my mom watched Kali while I was at work. Then I had a meeting after work, so we put a roast in the crock pot and we were all going to eat when I got home. My dad even came over! WOO HOO.
It came time for Kali's bedtime. And every night, I read her a story. I got all giddy when I realized that my Dad was here when it was bedtime! So I begged (and I do mean begged) him to read her the story. For someone who is in theater and barbershop and all things theatrical for an audience, he sure is hard to convince to do a "private" show! LOL.
But after Kali gave him her "but I wanna story" eyes, he agreed. Kali loved it! Right up until the end when she was too hungry to focus on a book....but I loved it!!!!!!! :)
And I told my Dad and Katrin that I wasn't going to read her this book until Dad did.....so now I can add it into the rotation. Have I mentioned I love this book?! Cause I do, I really do!!!!
"What did that say? There is a Monster at the end of this book??"
LOVE IT
I adore her face in this picture! She was so into it
Can't lie...I was into it too! :)
And forgive the "I just rolled outta bed" look.
It was a long day and I was exhausted and just wanted to get comfy!!!
If you haven't read that book before...YOU MUST BUY IT! Here...I'll help ya out: Purchase Here
Can't wait to be able to read this book again for me Kali. I She is going to love it! :)
I bought Kali a jumperoo off craigslist.com for $30, which is WAYYYY better than the $80 price tag it had at Target. I cleaned it up (and sanitized it of course) and it was finally ready for Kali to enjoy last night. TJ has been working nights this week, so he was sleeping when we got home. I decided to make dinner and wait until he woke up to put her in the jumperoo so that he could be there too. He has missed some of her 'firsts' so I wanted to make sure that he was able to join in on this one.
While I was making dinner, Kali decided to roll over....and I didn't see it. She has been doing this to me for DAYS! And it's killing me. She did it the other day while I was sitting at the computer paying bills (yay me.....UGH!) and I tried to capture her doing it again on camera, but she REFUSED to do it. This is becoming a habit of hers. Anytime she sees either my camera or my phone, she stops doing whatever cute thing she was doing before I grabbed the camera. Starting to wear on my nerves a little. Anyhoo.......
I really wanted to record her rolling over, so I set her on her back on her tummy time mat and then "hid" in the kitchen where she couldn't really see me with the camera. And VIOLA...I captured her rolling over! YAY!!! But if I'm going to have to "hide" from her every time I want to capture a special moment on camera I'm going to scream! NOT FAIR...I love to take pictures and MY KID is the one that doesn't like camera....UGH, such is my life.
So here it is...for your enjoyment!!!!! =)
I was a little excited!!! HAHA
After that, I still had to make dinner. So I put her in her Bumbo in the kitchen with me. She only tolerates this thing. She'll sit in it until she gets board....and then scrambles to get out. HAHA
Kali playing nicely in the kitchen while I cooked...
And then she wanted to get out...
And then she REALLY wanted to get out.
This is Kali's drink and my drink from last night! =)
After dinner we finally got to put her in the jumperoo. At first she wasn't sure how to react, but then she liked it. Here's a picture of her in it...
Yup...she's adorable! :)
And here is the video of her in the Jumperoo for the first time!!
So that was the majority of our night. She loved it, and then we did her bedtime routine: bath, lotion, story, bottle, Mommy Sleeper hold and GOOD NIGHT KALI!! =)
