And not for fun!!! I've been dealing with knee problems practically my whole life. No doctor can figure out what's wrong and it's getting tiring. Some said Arthritis, some said overweight (they probably weren't totally wrong, but I'm working on that part...), and now they're saying GOUT. OMG! I'm not happy. Gout isn't curable, but it's "fixable". No red meat (Boo! I like my steak rare) and no alcohol (I went 10 months without it, I can handle cutting that out). ::sigh::
Last week my right knee starting acting up. Was swollen and stiff and hard to walk (I looked like I was about 75 limping around). I went to the doctor on Wednesday. He said I had 2 options: 1) extract the fluid under my kneecap and inject some cortisone. This is the most painful procedure I've ever had (I've had it done 2 times in the past) and I was NOT looking forward to this option. and 2) get an MRI scan and/or Xrays done to see if there is anything they can see on the scans that could answer the question of "What the hells is wrong with Stephanie?"
So obviously I took the MRI route. After having it rescheduled 3 times, I finally went on Saturday for the scan. It wasn't bad. Just lay completely still for 40 minutes. The tech said that she could see fluid on my knee, but that the doctor would have to review the scans and would send them to my doctor by Monday afternoon.
This weekend, my knee was ok. Still sore, but better than last week. And then yesterday all hell broke loose again. Swollen, stiff, hard to walk, miserable. It probably didn't help that I attempted to assist TJ in the yard. The lake behind our house has been drained so that the weeds would die. Then they'll close the valve and it will fill back up. So the weeds at the edge of our property are dead and we needed to get them up before the water rises. I am NOT an outdoors person. I can camp, but that's about it. I don't do critters, I don't do bugs, and I don't like to sweat! I helped for about 30 minutes, but then TJ mentioned the word "snake" and I was running (with Kali in the stroller) back to the house. He found 5 snakes all together. I'm glad he's clearing the weeds, but I am NOT the person to assist in this project. But I think that me "helping" for those 30 minutes didn't really help my knee situation.
Last night I was in excruciating pain. I took 1/2 a Lortab that my doctor prescribed (cause I had to work today and didn't want to be completely knocked out), but it did nothing for me. Every time I went to roll over I would wake up in so much pain. And then this morning, I can't even put pressure on it again. I need a walker. :-(
So I've made camp on the couch, forwarded all the office phone calls to the cell phone, logged into my office computer using logmein.com (awesome site and it's FREE), and am sitting here with my leg propped up. I have my prescription ready at Walgreens, but I can't leave to go get it. So I'm stuck in pain until I can get up the nerve to leave the house and run get it. ::sigh::
I did take some cute pictures this weekend of Kali in her stroller while we worked in the yard (really while TJ worked in the yard) and of TJ working and his collection of snakes. I'll have to post them later. And I'll hopefully have an update on my knees soon.
