Junior got attacked :(

Our wonderful dog Junior got attacked this morning while on a walk with TJ's parents.  They normally go to the park in the morning with Junior and Kali since there are about 4 different parks within walking/bike riding distance from their house.  They have this little cart thing that goes behind their bike for Kali to sit in, and Junior is really good about keeping up with the bike on his leash.

This morning, while on their bike ride to the park, a dog came running out of his house and knocked over TJ's dad and started attacking Junior.  They finally got him off and Junior seemed fine. The police were called and we got a report made.  But once they got Junior home, they noticed a gash on his shoulder. They called me and I met them at the vet's office.  It's not very wide, but it is very deep.  The vet decided not to stitch it up so that hopefully it will drain and not get infected in case something (like hair or dirt) got pushed down in the hole.  We have some antibiotics and pain meds for him.

And boy is he a trooper.  He was wagging his tail when I walked in the room at the vet's office.  Acting like everything was fine.  Junior isn't a fighter, but he will get defensive if someone were to come up to one of us, or tries to attack.  He's especially protective of Kali.

The whole accident could have been a lot worse, but thankfully everyone is alright.  Wayne has some scratches on his elbow and knee from being knocked down.  He's going to see how it feels tomorrow to make sure it's just sore from the fall and nothing else.
I did get some pictures of Junior's wounds.  The pictures, actually don't look as bad as the actual wound though.

My poor baby!
Sitting at the vet's office.

This is the hole right above his right shoulder.
When I took the picture, I realized that there was more than just that one.

The vet had to shave the hair so that it didn't get matted.
And then we realized there were 4 cuts.
The one on the left is the worst.  It's really deep, below the fat tissue.
It's the one that the vet is most worried about, because there was hair stuck in it.
She was initially going to flush it, but decided not to in case there was more hair stuck down there, she didn't want to cause an infection.

I'm so glad that no one else got hurt! I wasn't even there and my nerves are shot. Probably because he's like our first kid, and I don't know what I'd do if something serious were to happen to him! He's only 5, and we're hoping to have Kali grow up with him! He's the best dog, and loves Kali (most of the time. Like when she's not screaming at him or pulling his ears - but he lets her).

What a way to start a Monday!
